The creation of new works for the marimba is very important to me and so I am constantly seeking out composers interested in collaborating on new projects.

In early 2005, Kevin Ernste began composing a new work for solo marimba, percussion quartet, and computer-generated sounds for me. He has just finished the first draft, look for the premiere in September 2008.

This new suite is made up of four pieces which began life as music for guitar (1st two movements) and piano (2nd two movements). In 2004, Augusta Read Thomas and I collaborated on creating marimba versions of these works.
